MET Community Workshop
Topic: Coding Without a Safety Net: Creating Algorithmic Art in Real-Time
Presented by: Matthew Griffin (Kids Code Jeunesse)
This short session will explore the possibilities of using parameters, variables, and algorithms as creative materials in digital art-making. What happens if we use parameters “incorrectly”? What are the limits of our parameters in our code? What happens if we push beyond those limits? How can we make students comfortable with the idea of exploring code? How can we, as educators, prepare ourselves for this sort of live coding experience in a classroom? Can we build something unexpected, and perhaps even chaotic, through algorithms & variables? We will share coding examples rich with possibilities, and deconstruct them together
