MET Community EdTech Talk Series

Special Guest: Dr.Jennifer Jenson

Topic: Video Games and Learning.

In this brief preamble to hopefully a fulsome discussion we will look at the epistemologies and ontologies of digital games. Video games are the creative media of the 21st century, both economically and socially, and much has been made of their potential impacts on learners. In this MET Community EdTech talk we’ll explore how digital games and digital games research has approached what ‘learning’ looks and feels like in this highly interactive and influential media. In addition to reviewing the highlights of games and learning research, we will also look at some of the problematics of digital game culture.

Dr. Jenson teaches the courses ETEC 544: Digital Games and Learning, and ETEC 565S Digital Games, Learning, and Pedagogy in the MET program
